Father Damien Tour, Hawaii Expedition & Adventures

The tour that we went on today with Hawaii Expedition and Adventures is perhaps one of the most unique as well as historic tours that we offer. We took a small plane to the island of Molokai where we did a tour of the Kalaupapa Leper Colony. This area was set aside by the state of Hawaii to serve as a quarantine zone for those that were infected with leprosy. Since its opening towards the end of the nineteenth century over 8000 patients lived and died here. What many people do not know is that this is still an active colony and at the time we went there were still 11 patients that live here.

Truly the best way to see Maui is from the air. This morning we got to get to go on a complete island flight with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on their Eco Star helicopter that is the largest most comfortable model of sightseeing helicopter that is currently in production.

Morning Horseback Ride, Makena Stables

This morning we went for a horseback ride with Makena Stables. Their ranch is located on the southern tip of the island of Maui, right next to La Perouse Bay. The ride took us down along the coastline as well as high up onto the mountain where we were able to take in some incredible views of the south Maui coastline as well as the surrounding islands of Lanai, Kaoolawe and the Big Island.

Luau, Polynesian Village

The Polynesian Village Luau is a new luau that operates out of the Maui Lu hotel in North Kihei. The show has a very authentic feeling to it that seemed to be enjoyed everyone in attendance.

Luau, Hyatt Regency

We have been to this luau before and we were pleased to see that everything was just as we had remembered in our previous visits. The food and entertainment at the Hyatt Regency was exceptional.
